Green Ostrich Watch Band
I got this watch as a gift from my mom. I decided I wanted to make a strap that really popped so I used some green ostrich leg leather I had.
The watch on wrist.
This is the pattern I drafted for the band.
The band is lined with cowhide leather to give it structure and make it more comfortable on the wrist. This is what it looked like partially sewn.
This is what the buckle side of the strap looks like.
Snake Belt
I made this belt for myself. I got the snakeskin from Flora & Fauna in Burlington.
The belt in hand (without stitching).
I designed a pattern in CAD, printed it out, and taped it to the leather.
I punched out all of the holes on my press.
I smoothed the backside of the leather down so I could glue the snake on.
I glued on the snakeskin, however the glue I used discolored the snakeskin so I dyed it black.
You can see the difference between the original and dyed snakeskin.
I added a layer of veg tan leather to protect the snake from the belt buckle.
I painted in white highlights between the scales and added a high gloss finish to really make it pop.
This is what the finish looked like after everything dryed
It took around 3 hours to get everything hand stitched
I added padding onto the buckle to help protect the snakeskin.
The final product.
Watch Band
This is a custom strap I made for a timex watch I thrifted. The original strap was too small for my wrist so I needed to make a new one to wear the watch. I also decided to add a bund to take up more room on my wrist as the watch is rather small.
The final product, on snowy day.
This is what the watch face started out looking with no polishing and the strap removed.
The first part of the project was to take measurements of the watch and its existing band. I used a measuering tape and calipers.
My Measurements:
Wrist Diameter: 170mm
Lug Width: 12mm
Buckle Width: 10mm
Lug to Lug: 36mm
The next step was to turn these measurements into a pattern. I used onshape to draft it as it is easy to share. You can make your own version here here.
Next picked my leather (3oz veg tan), printed the CAD drawings onto paper, and taped the pattern pieces onto the leather.
I then punched in the stiching holes.
And I cut the pieces out with a sharp knife.
Orange Duffel Bag
This is an orange bag I made for my mom. It features a tan base with an supple orange upper it has shoulder straps and a drawstring closure. I got the pattern is from TonySeePatterns on Etsy and made some minor modifications like removing the handle.
Bag in the grass.
The pattern is from TonySeePatterns.
My favorite part is the orange Clemence leather. I got it for great deal as the piece I purchased came with some natural imperfections.
I did all the work by hand. It took a while, but I think my hardwork paid off.
Bernie thinks so too.
Tooled Valet Tray
I made this valet tray for my dad. It features brass rivets and a hand-tooled pattern giving the appearance of a weave.
The tray in use on my dad's desk.
I designed the pattern myself in Inkscape, it's available here.
